چکیده

INTRODUCTION Intelligent vehicles become to gather more and more interest and are drastically progressing (Bishop, 2005). Until recent days, respective system functions have been developed such as LDW(Lane Departure Warning), ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control), CW/CA(Collision Warning/Collision Avoidance), IPAS(Intelligent Parking Assist) and BSD(Blind Spot Detection). Each system employed their own sensors, processing unit and actuators. As more and more systems are adopted, the number of added sensors and processing units becomes too large. In order to integrate redundant sensors and actuators, automotive standards for software architecture are under development (AUTOSAR, 2007). Furthermore, sensing technologies recognizing surrounding environment are continuously developed (Gandhi, 2006; Li, 2006). This paper proposes a novel side/rear safety system using only one scan-type laser radar, which is installed at the rear left side of vehicle as shown in figure 1. The sensor monitors the left side, i.e. driver seat side, and backward side of vehicle. Our proposed system, ISRSS(Integrated Side/Rear Safety System), consists of four components: scan-type laser radar, ECU(Electronic Control Unit), active steering system, and user interface. ISRSS includes four functions: BSD(Blind Spot Detection), RCWS(Rear Collision Warning System), semi-automatic perpendicular parking, semiautomatic parallel parking.

As driver assistant systems (DAS) and active safety vehicles (ASV) with various functions become popular, it is not uncommon for multiple systems to be installed on a vehicle. If each function uses its own sensors and processing unit, then it will make installation difficult and raise the cost of the vehicle. As a countermeasure, researches integrating multiple functions into a single system h...

Side impact motor vehicle crashes: driver, passenger, vehicle and crash characteristics for fatally and nonfatally-injured rear-seated adults

BACKGROUND Most studies of rear-seated occupants have focused on or included pediatric occupants which may not translate to adults. This study examines passenger, driver, vehicle and crash characteristics for rear-seated adult occupants involved in side crashes. METHODS The National Automotive Sampling System General Estimates System (NASS/GES) for calendar years 2011-2014 was used with accom...

Factors associated with mortality in rear-seated adult passengers involved in fatal motor vehicle crashes on US roadways

BACKGROUND Recent efforts to pass rear seat belt laws for adults have been hampered by large gaps in the scientific literature. This study examines driver, vehicle, crash, and passenger characteristics associated with mortality in rear-seated adult passengers. METHODS The Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) 2010 to 2011 was used to examine motor vehicle occupant mortality in rear-seated...

Towards reliable self-integrative IT systems

IT components with information processing and communication capabilities are embedded in almost all commonplace and industrial objects. In our daily life we depend more and more on these IT components. On the other hand, users will increasingly expect that those IT components collaborate autonomously and thus provide emergent properties. Hence we have to guarantee their reliability, even though...

Integrated Active Front Steering and Semiactive Rear Differential Control in Rear Wheel Drive Vehicles

Abstract: Many vehicle control systems are based on the yaw rate error to help the driver during oversteer and understeer conditions. The control systems usually operate on brake pressures distributions such as ESP and/or on active front and rear steering control. Recently many papers are focused on the design of integrated global chassis control systems. The main contribution of this paper is ...
